Hours for Architects as a CPD Activity.
This weekend residential workshop is for Designers, Owner Builders and
those interested in Sustainability who wish to upgrade their knowledge
and skills of solar technology and apply it in their work with confidence.
You will receive a comprehensive overview of environmental and building
conditions to consider when planning a solar energy installation. You
will also be introduced to some of the latest solar innovations available
around the planet. There will be an emphasis on energy conservation
and best practices for a range of solar energy applications.
Areas covered will include:
- Elementary workings
of a photovoltaic (solar) panel
- On and off grid
system design considerations
- System integration
considerations
- Working examples
of solar installations
- Calculating size
and type of solar systems
As a result of the weekend you will be able to give informed advice
and make appropriate decisions about solar technology for yourself and/or
people you are professionally associated with. You will also be able
to deal more effectively with consultants and suppliers when selecting
your solar applications.
The weekend will include the design and installation of a small solar
system to demonstrate the theory. The principals learned are universal
and may be applied to a variety of domestic and commercial applications.
Presenter - Mark Shakeshaft
Mark is an accredited designer and installer of Photovoltaic (solar)
Power Systems with the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE).
He has been actively working as a professional in the solar power industry
for the last 12 years and has presented papers and workshops on solar
technology in Australia and overseas. Mark has studied Renewable Energy
Technology and has had the practical experience of living in a off grid
solar energy household. Mark is former National Manager of Kyocera Solar
Australia and is currently exploring
new ventures in the Australian solar industry.
Registration and inclusions
The workshop will commence 9.30am Saturday 21 July and conclude 2pm
Sunday 22nd July and will be located in the beautiful bushland retreat
centre in the Southern Highlands, NSW. Accommodation is in twin share
rooms or single rooms with ensuite. Meals are delicious organic vegetarian
cuisine with morning and afternoon teas included. For rates and registration

weekend residential workshops and retreats on sustainability and holistic
living at various locations in the Southern Highlands and Byron Bay
Hinterland, NSW, Australia. Activities are run under the principles
of social, economic and environmental sustainability with an emphasis
on raising consciousness for personal and global improvement.
